Smart Keys Keys
The key fob that came with your Nissan is a vital part of the car’s advanced keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle’s electronic systems to unlock doors or start the engine, and comes with a handy design that’s easy to keep in your pocket. A key fob comes with additional advantages, including lockout protection. This feature makes sure you don’t leave your vehicle with the keys inside.
Unlike previous models of key fobs which required you place the key in the ignition slot to gain access to your vehicle’s onboard systems, smart keys operate wirelessly. Nissan detects when you are near your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key’s internal functions. This could include opening or locking the doors, raising and lowering the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Some smart replacement key fob nissan models feature an unnoticed metal key to be used for valet parking. This key can be pulled from an opening on the side of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box prior to handing it to the valet. The Smart Key fob also features a charging pocket that can be used to recharge the battery when it is not in use.
It is possible to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it’s not working properly. The owner’s manual will give the steps to change the batteries in most fobs.
Intelligent Key Fob
With the Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can unlock your car’s doors and start the engine at the touch of the button. You can also set up presets that are based on your preferences. For example you can alter the seat and mirrors to ensure maximum comfort. You can even control the music through your phone, meaning you’ll never need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs come with an antenna that transmits the signal to your car when you push a button or come close to it. Once the vehicle has received the signal that the system has been activated, it will start to unlock and lock doors, kicking off the engine, or opening the trunk. If you’d like to test the fob, stand at a distance away from your vehicle, and then press the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries in order to function. If they run out, our Parts Department can help you change it quickly and conveniently. To do this, simply remove the Spare key nissan hidden in the lock and access the battery compartment of your key fob. Remove the battery that was in it, then insert a new one in its place. Assure that the positive side of the new battery faces in the same direction as it did with the original one. Finally shut the battery compartment and return the key to its concealed location inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start permits drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside insofar as they’re within the operating range. The ignition in the car is activated when a driver presses the button on the key fob or smartphone app. The remote start system can also engage climate control, allowing the driver to set their preferred temperature. Certain systems come with two-way communication which allows the driver to see what is happening in their vehicle.
If the remote start feature of your car isn’t working, the main reason is that the battery isn’t working. The key fob is powered by a small, replaceable battery that lasts approximately two years before it needs to be replaced. The battery can be replaced easily, however you will need to be aware of where the secret key is on the Intelligent Key Fob and how to open the compartment of the battery.
To do so, flip your fob over and press the key release latch that is located on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad is opened remove the battery and replace it with a brand new one, making sure that it matches the size and configuration of the battery that is in use. Before closing the case’s outer, make sure that the hidden key is reinserted and the key fob has been reassembled correctly. Our parts department will assist you with replacing the battery in your Intelligent Key fob.
Lockout Protection
Lockout protection helps eliminate the nuisance of lockouts that are caused by impedance relay failure. A special module in power control unit monitors impedance relay activity, and disables the output. This option is available on vehicles equipped with the Smart Key system, or via the personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have occurred because the machine was running when it was supposed to shut off to prevent maintenance or repairs. These accidents are usually the result of energy that has not been released correctly. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) that ensures that machines are completely off until an authorized individual releases them, helps to prevent these types of accidents.
The LOTO system is comprised of a variety of locks tags, locks, and other equipment that are used to isolate, secure or block the machine from an electrical source. All “affected”, “authorized”, and “qualified” personnel should be taught about the use of lockout/tagout devices. These devices include but aren’t limited to locks, chains, padlocks, wedges, adapter pins, and self-locking fasteners. Each device is unique and labeled with the date and time it was applied as well as the name and title of the person who was authorized to use it, and the purpose of the lockout/tagout (repairs maintenance, repairs and so on.). It must be clearly stated that the devices cannot be removed until the LOTO procedure is complete.
